ZLINE Partners With Vitalant In Reno For Successful Blood Drive

ZLINE Kitchen and Bath hosted its inaugural ZLINE Cares Blood Drive in partnership with Vitalant on January 31 at the company’s north Reno location at 350 Parr Circle.

In all, 21 ZLINE employees and members of the public visited the Vitalant bloodmobile to donate during the drive, accounting for 29 units of blood. Of the 21 participants, 10 were first-time donors.

Blood donations are crucial for patients undergoing surgeries, cancer treatments, or those living with chronic conditions like sickle cell disease. According to Vitalant, every day, more than 40,000 units of blood, platelets, and plasma are needed for patients in the United States. Put another way, someone in the U.S. needs blood or platelets every 2 seconds.

While the 29 units donated at the ZLINE Cares Blood Drive represent a fraction of those needs, every donation counts, says Cindy Lain, Senior Manager of People Operations.

"At ZLINE, we are privileged to play even a small role in supporting Vitalant’s lifesaving mission,” Lain says. “The Vitalant team was amazing to work with — they made sure the donation process was effortless and welcoming for all. This blood drive is just the latest example of ZLINE’s commitment to giving back to the communities we serve, and we’re honored to make a difference — one donation at a time."

Vitalant is the nation’s largest independent, nonprofit blood services provider exclusively focused on providing lifesaving blood and comprehensive transfusion medicine services to patients across the U.S. It operates 115 donation centers in 20 states, including six in Nevada and three each in Ohio and Tennessee, the three states where ZLINE operates.

“Blood donation is a powerful gift, not only because it saves lives but because it brings communities together in a spirit of care and compassion. Northern Nevada requires 180 units of blood each day, and because of donors like you, Vitalant can continue this lifesaving mission and provide critical support to hospital patients in need,” according to Aimee Guthrel with Vitalant. “It has been an absolute pleasure working with the ZLINE team.
