Product Safety Recalls | RG Gas Ranges

At ZLINE, our top priority has been (and always will be) ensuring the safety of you and your family.

ZLINE has become aware that the oven component of the select RG models described below can emit dangerous levels of carbon monoxide (CO) while in use, posing a serious risk of injury or death from carbon monoxide poisoning.

Because of this, we are choosing to conduct an immediate voluntary product safety recall in partnership with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC).

This voluntary product safety recall only applies to certain ZLINE Professional Gas Ranges (see below).

Affected Base SKUs

RG30
RGS-30
RGB-30
RG36
RGS-36
RGB-36
RG48
RGS-48
RGB-48
If you own a ZLINE Professional Gas Range, please use the available PDF document below to affirm if your range is affected, then submit a product safety recall registration below to begin the recall process.

If you have an affected range, stop using the oven immediately.

Professional ranges unaffected by this recall include the 24” Gas Ranges (Models: RG24, RGS-24, RGB-24), all SGR Gas Ranges (Models: SGR), all Dual-Fuel Ranges (Models: RA), Induction Ranges (Models: RAIND), and all Rangetops (Models: RT), Drop-in Cooktops (Models: RC, RC-PBT, RCIND) and Wall Ovens (Models: AWS, AWD).

Not sure if your range is included in the recall?

Please reference the diagrams below to best determine if your range is affected by the recent product recall. The primary distinction between all affected gas ranges and dual fuel or induction is the presence of the Oven Fan Button on the front of the stovetop (or cooktop), placed on the right-hand side of the knobs.

The absence of the Oven Fan Button will indicate an unaffected range model, and will not apply to the product safety recall.

Please refer to the images below for identifying recalled gas range models.

Gas Ranges Recall FAQ

WHAT IS THE REASON FOR THE RECALL?

To register a product safety recall claim, please use the "Request Recall" button below.

Once submitted, you will receive a confirmation of your submission from our dedicated product recall service center and the process for the recall will begin.

WHY IS THE RECALL BEING RE-ANNOUNCED? WHAT IF I HAVE ALREADY HAD MY UNIT REPAIRED?

It has come to our attention that some of the repairs were not performed correctly and did not prevent dangerous levels of carbon monoxide from being emitted from the oven. Carbon monoxide can cause serious injury or death. Inspections are free of charge. Replacements are free of charge and cover the removal and reinstallation of your new unit. All replacement units have been individually tested at ZLINE headquarters and are confirmed to be safe and compliant. Refunds are pro-rated based on the age of the unit.
HOW DO I SCHEDULE A FREE INSPECTION?
You are eligible for a free repair or free inspection (if your repair was already completed.) We will promptly schedule the free inspection (or repair). You will then be contacted by a local technician assigned to your case. The technician will schedule a mutually-convenient appointment time to come to your home and complete the free inspection (or repair.) There are no parts or labor costs associated with this recall that you are responsible to pay.

Alternatively, if you prefer to use your own technician, inspections can also be arranged through a local HVAC company with the appropriate equipment and a service visit will be reimbursed by ZLINE. Please provide the instructions at this link with this notice to your technician to complete the inspection and return the forms necessary to receive your reimbursement.

If the inspection finds that your range is no longer safe to use, you will be eligible for a free repair, free replacement range, or refund (which may be pro-rated based on the age of your unit).

WHAT MODELS ARE BEING RECALLED?

The following models with an “RG” identifier are part of this recall: RG30, RGS-30, RGB-30, RG36, RGS-36, RGB-36, RG48, RGS-48, RGB-48. There are additional variations of these models that are also affected (ex. RGS-SN-36).
HOW CAN I TELL IF MY PRODUCT IS RECALLED?
This recall only affects “RG” ranges in the 30”, 36”, and 48” sizes where the oven is powered by gas or propane. These models all begin with the letters “RG” and end with “30” “36” and “48”. (There may be other letters after the “RG” if you have specific colors or other features. All of these units are included).

For “RG” units, the model number is printed on a label on the back of the range. For ranges purchased after 2020, the model number is also printed on a label underneath the range top. Only ZLINE gas ranges with the model numbers listed in number 2 above are included in this recall. Model numbers beginning with the letters “SGR” and dual-fuel models begin with the letter “RA” and are not included in the recall. There are a few ways to make this determination.

A. You can always check your purchase receipt or look just under the knobs on the right hand side under the range top for a white “data plate” which identifies the model as “SGR”,“RG”, or “RA”.

B. If the data plate is not visible, then you may go to our website at www.zlinekitchen.com/recalls to view a diagram of the two models where we clearly describe how to identify your unit. The diagrams note the following steps:

a. Step 1 is to first confirm that the unit is either 30”, 36” , or 48” wide. Only those sizes are affected.

b. Step 2 is to review whether there is a “fan” button on the front of the unit:

i. If there is a “FAN” button on the right hand side, the oven is gas fuel and is AFFECTED by this recall.

ii. If there is NO “FAN” button on the right hand side, the unit has an electric oven and is UNAFFECTED by this recall.

I HAVE A 24” GAS POWERED “RG” MODEL, WHY IS MY MODEL NOT INCLUDED IN THIS RECALL?

The 24” gas powered “RG” model is designed differently due to the size and geometry of the units and, therefore, does not present the same issue as the 30”, 36”, and 48” models. We have not received reports of excessive carbon monoxide associated with the 24” gas powered “RG” model. We have tested this product to ensure it does not present a carbon monoxide hazard.

WHAT SHOULD I DO?

You should immediately stop using the oven compartment of the recalled ranges.

You are eligible for a free repair or free inspection (if your repair was already completed.) You are also eligible for a replacement with the same or an equivalent unit or a refund. All replacement units have been individually tested at ZLINE headquarters and are confirmed to be safe and compliant.

Replacements are free of charge and cover the removal and reinstallation of your new unit. Refunds are pro-rated based on the age of the unit.

We will schedule the free inspection (or repair).

Please note that you may continue to use your range top to cook and prepare your foods until the oven compartment is repaired. Range tops are often referred to as the stove or burners. You should immediately stop use of your oven compartment. Some consumers are not yet eligible for a free repair or free inspection. If you have a model RG36 or RGB-36 range manufactured during or before April 2020, a repair or inspection is not currently available. Follow these instructions to determine whether you have one of these ranges. If you have one of these ranges, you should stop using your oven immediately and contact ZLINE to receive a free replacement range or a refund (which may be prorated based on the age of your unit).

HOW LONG WILL IT TAKE TO HAVE MY INSPECTION OR REPAIR COMPLETED?

We will be processing the inspections/repair request immediately. A local technician will contact you to schedule the service at your earliest available opportunity.

Alternatively, you may directly contact a local HVAC technician with the appropriate equipment, as explained above, to schedule a reimbursable inspection.

HOW LONG WILL IT TAKE TO RECEIVE A REPLACEMENT UNIT?

We have replacement units in stock and will begin processing shipment.

You will receive a follow-up communication and your new oven should be installed in between 2 - 3 weeks.

HOW LONG WILL IT TAKE TO RECEIVE A REFUND?

We will schedule the removal of your unit promptly.

Register for your refund at this link and follow the instructions from the confirmation email you will recieve. ZLINE needs to verify that the purchase price of your unit and other incidental costs and needs to remove the unit to process your refund. Refunds are pro-rated based on the age of the unit.

Consumers who do not have access to their proof of purchase through their records (or online retailer records) will need to provide additional identifying information (i.e., the serial number) to ZLINE and ZLINE will work with the consumer to establish the sales date. If the sales data cannot be determined, consumers will be provided a pro-rated refund based upon an average length of ownership.

Once the recalled unit is successfully removed from your home, you can expect to receive your refund within approximately 2 - 4 weeks.
I HAVE TO EAT AND THIS RECALL IS STOPPING ME FROM PREPARING FOOD.
We recognize that the temporary loss of use of your oven compartment is a substantial inconvenience to you and we sincerely apologize. This recall is being conducted to protect the health and safety of you and your family.

Please note that you may continue to use your range top to cook and prepare your foods until the oven compartment is repaired. Range tops are often referred to as the stove or burners. You should immediately stop use of your oven compartment.

HAVE THERE BEEN ANY REPORTED INJURIES?

The firm has received 44 reports of carbon monoxide emission, including three reports of consumers seeking medical attention. ZLINE has repaired over 20,000 units. After the recall was announced, ZLINE received 131 reports that the repair was not completed successfully and that the ranges were still emitting dangerous levels of carbon monoxide.
