ZLINE Hosts Big Brothers Big Sisters of Northern Nevada for Community Service Day

ZLINE Kitchen and Bath welcomed Big Brothers Big Sisters of Northern Nevada (BBBSNN) on February 12 for an evening of activities, interactive tours, giveaways, and community camaraderie.

The ZLINE Cares Service Day, held at the company’s North Reno location off Parr Circle, brought together Bigs and their Little matches, ranging in age from 6 to 12, alongside BBBSNN staff and board members, and ZLINE employees. All told, roughly 100 community members filled the Reno-based company’s warehouse and professional showroom for a hands-on event designed to inspire greater involvement in mentorship across Northern Nevada.
ZLINE volunteers led rotating activity stations for the 44 Big and Little attendees, including basketball, building Legos, and bracelet making, inside the warehouse throughout the evening, while staff from the Learning & Development, Creative, Marketing, and Warehouse & Logistics teams hosted behind-the-scenes office tours for Matches to learn more about the company’s history since launching in 2007.

For Littles, seeing professionals speak confidently about their work helped expand their understanding of what’s possible, according to BBBSNN.

“Mentorship is a necessity in this day and age,” Steve, a Big Brother, noted after the event.

Matches also received bright yellow ZLINE warehouse vests and other merchandise and were treated to complimentary meals from local food trucks Mr. Yummy Yummy, Slater’s Ding-a-Wing, and Lazy Sundae, courtesy of ZLINE.
“We believe giving back is part of our responsibility as a local company, which is why we launched ZLINE Cares under the mantra of, ‘Creating better communities, one kindness at a time,’” shares Kevin MacMillan, Communications Manager for ZLINE. “ZLINE Cares represents our commitment to organizations like Big Brothers Big Sisters of Northern Nevada that are setting life-changing examples for local youth. These children are our future, and when we open our doors for events like this, we’re reinforcing our long-held ideal that business should be a force for good.”

BBBSNN currently has 150 children waiting to be matched with a Big Brother or Big Sister. With a typical commitment of just four hours per month, mentors build meaningful bonds through shared experiences such as games, reading, and outdoor activities. Events like the ZLINE Cares Service Day help raise awareness of the organization’s mission while creating engaging opportunities for matches to connect in a dynamic, supportive environment.

“It wasn’t difficult to get our folks to volunteer,” says Cindy Lain, ZLINE’s Senior People Operations Manager. “They believe in the (BBBSNN) mission and were ready to support in this way.”

Created in 2025, ZLINE Cares empowers employees to volunteer during work hours to support local causes. From food banks and domestic violence resource centers to wildlife sanctuaries and environmental restoration projects, the initiative creates meaningful opportunities for teams across all locations to work together and make a difference in the communities we serve. Go here to learn more.
